Weekly activities for the duration of 15 April to 21 April 2022

UZLAC bi-month meeting:
Sufol Chandra Golder member secretary of UZLAC and UNO, Kathalia, Jhalokathi said that, It is very essential and our moral responsibility to established an office of legal aid at upazila. Due to lack of room and our business with various kind of work we did not allocate a room for establish a legal aid office at upazila level. Within short time we will take step to allocate a room for use as upazila legal aid office.

Stakeholders meeting with Judges:
Mr.Md. Shahidulla, Honorable District Judge & Chairman Jhalakati District Legal Aid Committee said, All judges of today’s meeting are requested to give priorities to send the Civil, Criminal cases to DLAO for ADR as per law. PPJ- Jhalokathi Aparajeyo-Bangladesh will prepare and a list of victims who feel harass by panel lawyers, with detail data of their case, and present at quarterly meeting of DLAC. There have no allocation of transportation cost of NLASO yearly budget, in this regards, I request the NGO’s to allocate some budget for client transportation purpose. Jhalokathi District legal aid committee will observe national Legal aid day on 28 March 2022 as per the plan of NLASO, in this regards I seek proper support & contribution from all respective organizations and persons.

Stakeholders meeting with Legal Aid Clients:
Shefali Begum, Housewife and resident of upazila, Jhalokathi, 01753240174 said, My husband and I live with our step son’s’. I went to Kushtia alone to my daughter house for treatment and stayed here for six months. When I come back to our son’s at Jhalokathi after recovery, they refuse to accept me, since my husband is dependent on the son’s, he can't play any role for me. I have registered a complaint at the District Legal Aid Office. Till now there has been one hearing organized so far. I hope that I will get justice and my rights back.
